The Flathead National Forest will be issuing a Request for Quotations for the Cedar Flats Vegetation Treatment, Glacier View Ranger District, Flathead County, Montana. The project will selectively treat (harvest/slash) trees and other vegetation with associated activities on approximately 107 acres (three items). Vegetation treatments are designed to simulate natural ecological processes, improve vegetative conditions while maintaining basic stand structures and functions, and slightly reduce fire danger and fuel loadings in this forested area. The request for quotations requires the quoter to describe what treatment methods they will be applying and how they will accomplish the treatments based upon the existing conditions and the desired future conditions. The quoter is also required to have a working knowledge about forest products and current market conditions as the contract requires products to be sorted in roadside decks. No salvage rights are included with this project. Issue date, June 8, 1998. A Pre-bid Tour is scheduled for June 16, 1998, at 5:00 p.m. Quoters are strongly recommended to attend this tour.
