COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JUNE 5,1998 PSA#2110SP -- INDUSTRY REVIEW OF THE NATIONAL GENERAL AVIATION TECHNOLOGY
ROADMAP What: NASA desires to facilitate
government-industry-university-state partnerships for the purpose of
developing and deploying the technologies to enable the expansion of
existing and creation of new markets for personal air transportation
intercity mobility in the 21st Century. This Review serves as an
information and survey response session on the National General
Aviation Technology Roadmap Planning. When: Thursday, June 25, 1998,
10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Who: This working session will be of interest to
avionics, airframe, and engine manufacturers, State aviation planners,
airport executives and operators, transportation researchers, and
human factors and flight training organizations. Where: Air Force
Museum Auditorium, Wright Patterson AFB, OH Why: NASA is leading the
development of a National General Aviation Technology Roadmap. The
purpose of the Roadmap is to guide the Agency's Aeronautics Enterprise
investments in General Aviation technologies. The Roadmap uses the
concept of a Small Aircraft Transportation System (SATS) as a
decision-aiding framework for current and future investments. These
investments must be metrics-driven to provide returns in investments
for the Public good. The Public good benefits are defined in terms of
mobility, safety, environment and airspace capacity. The Roadmap
defines the technology opportunities and challenges for investments
beginning in FY 2001. The preliminary list of investment options
includes: 1) Quiet, Clean Propulsion, 2) Single Crew Flight Deck
Systems, Training, & Operations, 3) Airframe Systems, 4) National
Airspace System Infrastructure, 5) Public Standards, Policy, &
Regulatory Issues. The purpose of the working session is to inform
industry of the National General Aviation Technology Roadmap and to
solicit information for development of investment priorities. Contact:
