(DISC) AND FORT RILEY KANSAS INDUSTRY CONFERENCE THIS ANNOUNCEMENT IS
NOT A FORMAL REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL AND THE GOVERNMENT WILL NOT PAY FOR
ANY INFORMATION RECEIVED UNDER OR ASSOCIATED WITH THIS ANNOUNCEMENT.
The Defense Industrial Supply Center (DISC) Philadelphia, in
conjunction with the Army Base at Fort Riley Kansas, will be conducting
an Industry Conference on June 24, 25 and 26 at Fort Riley Kansas. All
interested members of industry are welcomed and encouraged to attend
this three day event. Its purpose is to obtain recommendation/comment
on logistical solutions for a broad range of products and services at
Fort Riley to allign industry capability with customer expectations.
One of the main objectives of this day is to be able to determine the
feasibility of one supply/service integrator that can manage total
logistical support to installation activities, worksites, the forward
support battalion (FSB)/battalion support area (BSA) worldwide. Some of
the itemsand services that the integrator will be required to provide
are Class II items (textile items and field gear), Class III (P) items
(petroleum lubricants, packaged, not bulk), Class IV items
(engineering and construction items such as surveying equipment) and
Class IX items (various repair parts for weapons systems). It should be
noted that this listing of items is just a sample representation of
items that may be included under this initiative should this reach a
formal solicitation stage. In addition, there will be varied services
associated with the logistical support of these items that will be
required by an integrator as well. Such services can be, but not
limited to, inventory management, electronic technology to create,
maintain and operate a user friendly supply system, training for the
automated system and other associated services. Additionally, an
integrator will be required to provide continued support in the field
during periods of training and deployment anywhere around the world.
The Industry Conference will be comprised of three days. An orientation
to the three day event and complete tour of the logistical operation at
Fort Riley will take place on June 24. On June 25, and additional tour
of the Forward Support Tank Battalion will take place in the morning
session with a question and answer session to occur in the afternoon of
the same day. June 26 will be reserved for additional dialogue as
required. All parties interested in attending should contact the POC
referenced below by June 17, 1998 or sooner. When notification is
received, all requesting parties will receive an information packet
with ALL DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS for the Industry COnference. It is
ESSENTIAL that this packet be received if you plan to attend the event.
