CONFERENCE, JULY 9, 1998 24th DISTRICT TEXAS CONGRESSMAN MARTIN FROST
FEDERAL PROCUREMENT CONFERENCE On 9 July 1998, Congressman Martin Frost
in cooperation with The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) Cross
Timbers Procurement Center will sponsor the second annual federal
procurement conference in Arlington, Texas. Co-sponsors include North
Texas Small Business Development Center -- Center for Government
Contracting, Dallas Electronic Commerce Resource Center, Texas
Manufacturing Assistance Center, Minority Business Development Center,
Palestine Electronic Commerce Resource Center, and Fort Worth Business
Assistance Center. Last year's inaugural conference drew over 500
participants. Registration will begin at 7:15 AM in the E.H. Hereford
University Center at UTA with the program scheduled to begin at 8:30
AM. In addition to Congressman Frost, distinguished speakers include
Captain Bob Cowley (Assistant Commander for Contracts, Naval Air
Systems Command), and luncheon keynote speaker Mr. Marshall Doke, Jr.,
expert in the field of government contracts. Emphasis will be on
Electronic Commerce/Electronic Data Interchange (EC/EDI) and breaking
into the government market, specifically with the Department of
Defense. Numerous prime contractors will also be in attendance. In
addition to EC/EDI issues, breakout sessions will also be held on
topics such as Government Certification & Registration; Construction
and Environmental Contracting; Doing Business with State and Local
Buying Activities; Value Added Networks (VANS); Subcontracting; and
Commodity & Service Contracting just to name a few. Information will be
targeted towards small business, which make up over 90 percent of all
business in North Texas. Besides making important contacts and learning
the nuts and bolts of government procurement, some agencies may have
open bids available for attendees' review and submission. Registration
fees are as follows: Small Business Attendees and Government
Exhibitors: $30.00 per person includes continental breakfast, lunch,
afternoon refreshments and snacks, and all conference materials. All
Other Exhibitors: $50.00 includes booth fee, continental breakfast,
lunch, afternoon refreshments and snacks, and all conference material
for one person. $30.00 for each additional participant. To obtain more
