Z -- CHICAGO SHORELINE PROTECTION PROJECT -- 31ST STREET BEACH STABILIZATION SOL C959-98-000-2 DUE 071798 POC For technical and contractual information contact Eddie Lance (312)744-9768 The work for the 31st Street Beach Stabilization generally consists of furnishing all materials, labor, tools and equipment required to extend the pier, construct a stub groin, concrete step revetment and submerged breakwater, perform beach nourishment, and perform all other appurtenant and collateral work. The work will be completed in three stages: Stage 1 -- construct 150-ft pier extension, 275-ft stub groin and 300-ft stepped concrete revetment. Work includes driving new steel sheet pile, placing backfill and concrete for the pier and stub groin, constructing cast-in-place concrete steps and placing toe stone scour protection. Stage 2 -- construct 650-ft submerged stone breakwater, and Stage 3 -- place 45,000 C.Y. of clean beach sand. For an appointment to inspect the site, contact Mr. Michael Woods at (312)742-0113.
