COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JUNE 8,1998 PSA#2111Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division, 9500 MacArthur Blvd.,
West Bethesda, MD 20817-5700 A -- SPRAYFORMERS-TUBE AND CLAD BAR-POTENTIAL SOURCES SOUGHT DUE
070698 POC Roger N. Branstiter, Contract Specialist, 301-227-5782 The
Naval Surface Warfare Center -- Carderock Division is conducting a
market survey to determine the existence or interest of possible
sources who possess or who are interested in obtaining the capacity to
manufacture tubes of the following alloys: 600, 625, 690, 718, 304L,
and 304LN. The current outer diameter interest ranges from 8.000 inches
to 30.000 inches, with deposit thickness' ranging from 1.000 inch to
3.000 inches, with lengths ranging from 2.000 Ft to 20.00 Ft.
Austenitic pipes are to meet ASTM A 943/A 943M-95. The U.S. Navy Spray
Forming and Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory (KAPL) Spray Forming
programs have matured to the point that serious consideration is now
given to finding existing companies with spray forming experience, that
have full production capacity to produce preforms over a range of
thickness', diameters, and lengths. The potential U.S. Navy shipboard
applications for preforms include piping, bimetallic pipes, heat
exchanger tubes, and ring rolling stock to be rolled into flange like
shapes. Those sources interested in the possible future production of
preforms as specified within the range cited above should respond that
they are interested, and address what impact/considerations must be
given to enhance their current capability to accommodate their interest
in production. Additionally, all interested firms should provide
pertinent information concerning current capabilities and practices,
quality assurance procedures, production quantity, years of experience
in metals production, current principle product line. This
announcement is a request for information only and is not a request for
proposal (RFP) or announcement for solicitation. Response to this
announcement is on a voluntary basis; the Navy neither intends to award
a contract on the basis of this request nor to otherwise pay for the
information provided. Respondents should submit their data no later
than 06 July 1998, to Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division
