THIS NOTICE CONSTITUTES AMENDMENT NO. 1 TO THE COMBINED SYNOPSIS/RFQ FOR Seven (7) Day Ship Time on Research Vessel to Measure Surface Salinity of Gulf Stream. Companies shall acknowledge all amendment(s) in their quote. This notice serves as the official amendment to subject synopsis/RFQ and a written amendment will not be issued. The purpose of this amendment is to clarify specifications. The general area that measurements will be taken is in the Gulf Stream approximately due east of Maryland/Delaware. The basic hours of operation are 24 hrs a day. The vessel will not be on station for any length of time. The cruise will mainly require continuous steaming at cruising speed. The depths that the measurements will be taken will include the surface to about 160 m depth. We anticipate using a towed undulating CTD system to do the 20-160M depth range, the ship intake to do ~1 m or so from the surface. The due date for receipt of offers is not extended. Companies shall provide the information stated in the synopsis/RFQ posted on the NASA Acquisition Internet Service (NAIS) on 6-29-98.
