51 -- TOOL KIT CHESTS & PORTABLE TOOL BOXES SOL 6FES-D1-980202-N DUE 073198 POC Genia Watson(6FES-D1), 816/823-1296 General Services Administration intends to issue a Negotiated, 2 year stock, fixed price, indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity, with 3-1 year option type solicitation. It will not be a total small business set-aside. The qtys. are estimated for 2 yrs. The following paragraphs apply to items 2 & 3: Technical Documents-In accordance with (IAW) Fed. Spec. GGG-T-558D/Gen,(General Spec. for Portable Tool Box) dated 10/19/92 & Fed. Spec. GGG-T-558/2C (General Type for Portable Tool Box) dated 10/19/92. Exceptions to Document GGG-T-558/2C:Paragraph 3.1, delete paragraph 3.3-delete first sentence & substitute "Type II, class 1 tool boxes shall be similar to figures 1 & 2 with hip roof design & shall consist of body, lids, 4 cantilever trays, & hardware. "Paragraph 3.3.2, delete in the 6th sentence the words "or with a lid that is inte- gral with the box lid & positioned so that it forms a cover for the upper trays." Paragraph 3.3.3.1, add "Mounting bracket & handle shallbe designed so that the handle & bracket will not distort nor will the handle slip out of the mounting brackets under any conditions or position that the fully loaded box is carried in." Exceptions to Technical Document-GGG-T-558 General Specification, paragraph 4.3, Testing Methods, delete the last sentence of the paragraph & substitute "one sample box shall be used for testing." Qty. 140), IAW Commercial Item Description (CID) A-A-55822, dated August 1, 1996 & U.S.Army Troop Support Command Dwg 13220E8279,Revision A, dated 03/17/89. Exception to Dwg 13220E8279: Sheet 1, Notes: 1, Delete first sentence & substitute: Unless otherwise specified, all requirements of CID A-A-55822 shall apply. Sheet 1, Notes: 3, Delete in it's entirety & substitute: Tray construction shall be IAW standard commercial practice. In sheet 1, change "S" handle dimensions for the front & back panels to 4". The handles shall be positioned to allow maximum ground clearance & to preclude interference with the drawbolt. EXCEPTION(S) TO TECHNICAL DOCUMENT -EXCEPTION TO CID A-A-55822, dated August 1,1996. Paragraph 2.3 Painting, delete first sentence & substitute: "The interior & exterior of the chest shall be finished by sealing, & then coating with Green 383 (color #34094) polyurethane conforming to MIL-C- 46168 or MIL-C-53039 to minimum dry film thickness of 1.8 mils. Qty. 1,890),Type II-General, class 1 with 4 cantilever trays, box size 2. (4) 5140-00-563-3552 (Chest, Tool Kit, Est. Qty. 598), IAW CID A-A-50537, dated September 21, 1992. EXCEPTION(S) TO TECHNICAL DOCUMENT: Use of MIL-P-53030, with finish coat of MIL-C-46168 (color number 383 green paint) for ferrous & non-ferrous metal parts. For wood parts use a commercial polyurethane-basedwood sealer with finish coat of MIL-C-46168 (color number 383 green paint). EXCEPTION(S) TO TECHNICAL DOCUMENT-In addition to any other marking specified, each tool box shall be marked with the manufacturer's name or identifying symbol & the state or country of manufacture.
