The U.S. Geological Survey intends to place a purchase order for the following items: 34 3-channel digital accelerographs with "Caltech" real-time option and internal modem; 10 12-channel digital accelerographs with "Caltech" real-time option and internal modem; 36 GPS receivers with antennas and cables; 8 external GPS receivers with antennas; and related accessories. These items will replace analog instruments currently in use in USGS seismic monitoring stations located throughout the Western United States. The USGS intends to acquire these items from Kinemetrics, Inc., Pasadena, CA, on a sole source basis, to assure complete compatibility with existing instrumentation, including digital instruments acquired from Kinemetrics under a previous contract. No RFQ will be issued for this acquisition. Interested parties should respond in writing within 15 days of publication of this notice, and include detailed information on prospective offeror's capability of meeting all requirements described herein.
