Provide A/E Services for preliminary design, contract specifications and drawings, construction cost estimates and construction period services for Renovate ICU, Project 649-98-101 at the VA Medical Center, 500 Hwy 89 North, Prescott AZ. Work will include the ICU area on the 4th floor of Bldg 107, Main Hospital. Total area is approx 3200 sq feet. Design work will be required to access a life safety code issue regarding an exit in the bed area of the ICU, replacement of windows to eliminate drafts and water flow leakage, upgrade of the mechanical systems to allow proper airflow and improve temperature control, and aesthetic improvements to finishes. The alleviation of the life safety code issue requires a major realignment of the functional layout of the ICU to include removal of the beds from their current locations. The need to find a new location for the beds drove a programmatic space review which indicated numerous other shortcomings in the facility to include inadequate bed cubicle space, an inadequate control center, no space for consultations/meditation, inadequate storage space, inadequate clean and soiled utility facilities and inadequate family waiting space. The scope will include a complete interior renovation of the existing ICU including demolition of existing walls, upgrades to HVAC and electrical systems, construction of new walls to delineate new functional spaces and new finishes throughout. The project also expands the boundaries of the ICU to correct current space inadequacies to include renovating an existing congregate bath to meet ICU needs. We will require the services of a professional I.H. to be included to the A/E team. We anticipate prelims and design time to be within 4-5 months from award date. Construction cost range is 500K to 1M. Geographical limitation is not established for this work, as we are looking for firms with strong ICU remodel experience. This is not a request for proposal.
