draft Statement of Work (SOW) available for public comment and seeks
sources capable of providing field maintenance on approximately 100
Automated Surface Observing Systems (ASOS)sites nationwide. The draft
SOW is only available via the Internet. The requirement includes
periodic preventive and facility maintenance, calibration and all
necessary corrective maintenance in a timely manner to meet operational
requirements and to ensure effective performance of the ASOS systems.
Additionally, the Contractor shall assist the Government in relocation
of equipment, installation of new equipment, installation of ASOS
modifications and system enhancements, provide technical and analytical
services [e.g. Radio Frequency Interference (RFI)], and perform
commissioning activities. ASOS consists of three functional groups of
equipment: sensor groups; Data Collection Package (DCP); and the
Acquisition Control Unit (ACU). A copy of the draft SOW is available

also contains links to extensive ASOS information including
photographs, diagrams, and site information. Expressions of interest
and comments concerning any aspect of the draft SOW are welcome. In
particular, the NWS would like comments regarding specific cost drivers
and any implementation concerns along with an estimate on the rough
order of magnitude for the total effort. Comments received by July 7,
