Control and Prevention (CDC) contemplates awarding a contract to
develop and implement a surveillance registry in the United States
which will provide data for analysis and technical reports on the
frequency and types of non-occupational exposures to HIV, offers and
acceptance rates of antiretroviral therapy to attempt interruption of
transmission, and clinical course and outcomes of persons with
documented HIV exposure. The successful offeror will finalize
formatting of OMB-approved surveillance forms and develop, test, and
implement data entry and management procedures for the construction and
maintenance of a national PET surveillance registry and database using
the CDC IRB-approved protocol for data collection. The Contractor will
produce monthly progress reports and semi-annual updated datasets for
analysis at CDC. Data will be collected and reported to CDC to
describe: 1) possible HIV exposures for which patients have requested
or providers have considered providing post-exposure therapy (PET); 2)
demographic characteristics of persons presenting with such potential
exposures; 3) provider characteristics and practices in
offering/prescribing PET; and 4) reported clinical outcomes in the
subgroup of patients with documented or high likelihood of HIV exposure
who elect to take PET and those who don't. Only written requests for

accepted. The date specified for receipt of offers will be
approximately 30 days after the RFP issue date. Requests for the RFP
must specify the RFP No. 98B222(N). All responsible sources that meet
the above requirements may submit a proposal which shall be considered
