(1) This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for Commericial Item prepared in accordance with the format in Federal Acquisition Regulation Subpart 12.6. this annoucement constitutes the only solicitation; request for proposal and written solicitation will not be issued. (ii) The solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 97-04, as well as the terms and conditions of FAR 52.212-1. DESCRIPTION: PTO has a requirement to procure the Classification Server software NT module which is designed to operate with the BRS/Search Text Management Software. This software will automate the process of classifying patent applications into specific categories/classes based on PTO's patent taxonomy structure. The Classification Server software is responible for automatically determining the area of technology for which the patent should be considered with appropriate training modules to increase the precision based on previous results of the process. Interative retraining processes are provided with the Classification Software. Annual Maintenance is part of this requirment. (iii) PTO intends to award a sole source contract to Dataware Technologies, Inc. 540 North Broadway, Pitman, NJ 08071 for this requirement. In accordance with FAR 6.301.1 (Only one responible source) Dataware Technologies, Inc is sole pr proprietor of the Classification Software. A firm fixed price contract will be awarded.
