The solicitation packages will be available on July 15, 1998 with an anticipated bid opening on or about August 7, 1998. The successful bidder will be responsible for providing Optometry services, being professional in nature, will be provided in a method as considered normal in the local community. They will be responsible for examining, measureing and prescribing eye glasses for each inmate as needed. He/She will do specialized testing for glaucoma of the eye, ocular pressures, and other special test to determine the need for eye glasses and special treatments. The successful contract must be Board Certified and licensed to practice Optometry in the state of Pennsylvania. The contract period is for one year with two one year options to extend the term of the contract. Additionally, the successful bidder will be required to pass a background investigation.
