USAID Mission to Nicaragua is requesting proposals from offerors with
significant experience in implementing USAID educational reform
projects in Latin America and/or in other regions. Offerors must also
have experience in development training. This Program supports the
Government of Nicaragua (GON) and USAID's shared objectives of
increased access to quality education and greater student achievement.
The Program activities will increase the effectiveness of teachers by
expanding the National Training Network; training teachers, directors
and supervisors; and strengthening and expanding model schools.
Program activities will improve efficiency through strenthening the
Ministry of Education in support of decentralized primary education.
The Mission anticipates awarding a Cost-plus-Award Fee contract for the
purpose of working in the Basic Education and Training Program in
Nicaragua. The period of performance of this Contract will be for
approximately four and one half years. RFP NO. 98-12 for this
requirement will be available on or about July 8, 1998. The closing
date for receiving proposals should be September 7, 1998. Interested

acceptable. Please make reference to RFP 98-12. No request for the RFP
will be honored 15 days after the opening day of same. The Standard
Industrial Classification Code for this procurement is 8299. The
