been directed under the Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) contract to
assist the JDAM Program Office (ASC OL/YU) and users in assessing and
clarifying Precision JDAM requirements. As a result of this direction,
Boeing and the JDAM program office have formed a Product Improvement
Program (PIP) Integrated Product Team (IPT). The PIP IPT will
concentrate the near-term efforts in the following areas: 1) Evaluating
the warfighters' precision JDAM requirements as expressed in the Joint
Operational Requirements for JDAM; 2) Reviewing current precision
guidance technologies for potential JDAM application; and 3) Defining
the weapon system interface requirements concerning the integration of
precision capability onto the JDAM weapon system and related
JDAM-aircraft. Information on approaches to improve the accuracy of the
baseline JDAM weapon system, which includes both seeker and non-seeker
technologies, are sought by the PIP IPT. Information of interest
includes the following: a) Company, b) Point of contact information,
and c) Brief technical description of your precision guidance or
guidance improvement technology approach. The PIP IPT anticipates
releasing a more detailed Request For Information (RFI) package to
qualified respondents of this synopsis. Interested foreign companies
may submit a capabilities package, however the Government has yet to
make a determination on foreign participation and the possibility does
exists that they may be excluded from receiving the entire RFI
package. This synopsis is for information and planning purposes only,
it does not constitute a solicitation for bids or proposals and is not
to be construed as a commitment by The Boeing Company. Responses are
