The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division proposes to procure the refurbishment of Shoulder-Launched Multi-Purpose Assault Weapon (High Explosive Dual Purpose (HEDP) rockets, Nomenclature 83MM/1340-01-227-8871/HX05 for the U.S. Marine Corps. The refurbishment shall be accomplished IAW the current SMAW HEDP Technical Data Package. It is desired that the refurbishment be accomplished in two years, however, the Request for Proposal will be structured such that it can be a two or three year program, depending upon funding available. It is planned that a total of approximately 46,000 rockets will be refurbished. The rockets are currently designated as "Condition Code N" Combat use only. The major effort in the refurbishment will involve replacement of the launch tubes, with ancillary work as necessary to meet the TDP requirements. The estimated solicitation issue date is 31 July 1998, with a closing date of 15 September 1998. Contract award will be based upon a best value source selection, with available facilities, past performance, and demonstrated ability to meet required delivery schedule as major source selection factors. Upon its release, the RFP will be available on the NSWCDD Procurement Division Web Site, as explained below.
