20192 19 -- HOVERCRAFT WITH MULTISONIC DRILL RIG SOL 98HQSS1014 DUE 063098
POC Don Cash, (703)648-7360(contact) Nedra Stallone (703) 648-7364 (CO)
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) has a requirement for a multisonic
core drill mounted on a trailerable, approximately 21 ft. hovercraft
propelled and lifted by twin, ducted fans driven by a marine service
motor capable of producing at least 200 horsepower. The hovercraft must
be capable of carrying 1200 lbs. of payload (including the drill). This
payload is minimal for carrying two drillers and the drilling
equipment. The hovercraft must be truly amphibious, operating across
water, land, and marshes without touching the surface. The deck of the
hovercraft must be equipped with a centrally located well for core
drilling and must be reinforced to accommodate the operation of a
multisonic core drill mounted over the centrally located well. The core
drill must be hydraulically driven by power takeoff from the marine
service motor. The multisonic core drill must be capable of cutting and
retrieving continuous cores from unconsolidated sediments to 100 ft.
depth by variable frequency vibration. Training and spare parts are
also required. Solicitation No. 98HQSS1014 will be available on or
about 06/30/98. Requests for Solicitation No. 98HQSS1014 shall be in
writing (phone requests will not be honored). Requests may be faxed to
(703) 648-7901 (telephone confirmation is recommended). The
contracting officer plans to acquire the hovercraft with drill rig
utilizing small purchase procedures pursuant to FAR 13.6. All
responsible small business sources may submit an offer which shall be
considered by the agency. See Note 1. (0166) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0193 19980617\19-0002.SOL)
