M -- OUTLEASE OF THE U S GOVERNMENT RAILROAD AT INDIAN HEAD MD DUE 071398 POC Joan Markley (202) 685-3069 The Department of the Navy seeks Expressions of Interest (EOI) only from parties interested in leasing approximately 15 miles of railroad, known as the White Plains Railroad (WPRR), and associated maintenance type facilities. The WPRR runs from the Indian Head Division, Naval Surface Warfare Center (IHDNSWC) through southern Charles County to U.S. Route 301 in White Plains, Maryland. The WPRR is currently unutilized and is potentially available for development of alternate shared uses such as "passenger excursion", "dinner train", etc. The successful Lessee would be required to make any necessary repairs prior to use and to maintain the track at Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) Class 2 Standards.
