B -- EXPEDITIONARY FORCES EXPERIMENT 99 -- CALL FOR INITIATIVES. POINT OF CONTACT: CAPT HEATHER SCHUSTER, (310) 416-7922 Reference the release of the Expeditionary Force eXperiment (EFX) 99 CBD announcement on 5 Jun 98 through the Electronic Systems Center at Hanscom AFB (http://herbb.hanscom.af.mil/tbbs/EBO/060998a.txt). The EFX Space and Missile Systems Center Team (SMC/XRX) at Los Angeles AFB will be responsible for Space-related initiatives and is chartered to ensure that the space acquisition community submits numerous, quality initiatives on the requested receipt date of 21 July 98. SMC/XRX in conjunction with the Armed Forces Communication and Electronics Association (AFCEA) will host an EFX 99 Space Initiative Kick-off Conference on 19 June 98 at Los Angeles Air Force Base at 0800-1100 in The Club. This meeting is open to DoD and commercial Contractors, Research Labs, Federally Funded Research and Development Contractors (FFRDC), academia, and other government organizations and agencies with ideas on how space applications and technologies can enhance Air Expeditionary Force (AEF) operations. The purpose of this meeting is to provide the space acquisition community an EFX, AEF framework for initiative submissions. This forum will review the EFX 99 objectives and Concept of Operations for enhancing the AEF, characterize the AEF mission and environment, and provide greater details on the EFX 99 initiative submission and evaluation process. This meeting offers a unique opportunity for potential EFX players to "shake hands" and discuss technical ideas with representatives from the SMC program offices, the research labs, industry, etc. Follow-up sessions will be held as necessary to ensure initiatives are prepared to meet the 21 July cut off date for initiatives.
