(SSCOM) has a requirement for a self- contained and field portable
refrigeration unit to be coupled with existing 8 feet by 8 feet by 10
feet refrigerator-containers, Military specification MIL- R-44015 (GL).
The refrigeration unit shall have minimum net cooling capacity of 4000
BTU/hr at a thermostat setting of 0 degrees F and a minimum net
cooling capacity of 6000 BTU/hr at a thermostat setting of 35 degrees
F. The refrigeration unit shall have a minimum net heating capacity of
3000 BTU at a thermostat setting of 45 degrees F. Refrigeration unit
shall be furnished complete with accessories, instruments and controls
necessary to automatically maintain temperatures of 0 degrees F and 35
degrees F inside and refrigerator- container. The refrigeration units
shall be capable of starting and operating in ambient temperatures of
0 degrees F to 125 degrees F and must tolerate storage from -65 degrees
F to +150 degrees F. The refrigeration Unit must operate using an
environmentally friendly refrigerant. This acquisition will be
conducted on a full and open basis utilizing a best value approach. The
acquisition will result in a firm-fixed price requirements contract
consisting of a base and two optional 12 month ordering periods. Total
contract period will not exceed 36 months. Two First Article Test
Units will be required as part of contract performance. The estimated
quantity for the basic ordering period and each optional ordering
period is 100 units. The final Request for Proposal (RFP) is scheduled
to be released on or about 1 July 98 with a closing date of 31 July
98. All acquisition related documents (e.g., RFP, amendments etc.,)
will be released on the SSCOM web page (http://www-sscom.army.mil.)
