The Naval Air Systems Command intends to modify the FY 1998 F405 and F402 Component Improvement Program Contract N00019-97-C-0112 with Rolls-Royce in order to provide additional engineering support. The CIP provides for the engineering support and testing to improve safety and readiness and increase mission effectiveness for the T-45 and AV-8B propulsion and power systems. Rolls-Royce is the sole developer and manufacturer of the F405 and F402 engines and is the only known source with the unique experience and technical data required to perform this effort. (0167)
