CSC will award a subcontract as follows for the period 10/1/98 -- 9/30/99 with a one-year option for the period 10/1/99 -- 9/30/00. This subcontract was previously held by Silicon Graphics, Inc., and there is a possibility that it must be a sole-source award due to the proprietary nature of the hardware and software involved. However, in the interest of encouraging competition, CSC requests capability statements from vendors to determine whether other vendors are technically qualified. Please submit a description of your firm's capabilities in the following areas by 4 p.m. Pacific Standard Time on 10 July 1998. CSC anticipates releasing a Request for Proposal to all technically-qualified bidders on 17 July 1998. Provide off-site hardware exchange services at proper revision levels, hardware and software field alert notifications, licensed IRIX operating system upgrades, patches and media, common compiler and development tool set upgrades, patches and media and telephone based hardware, operatingsytem and application software technical support to onsite CSC maintenance personnel. This support is required for over 350 Silicon Graphics workstations and computer data servers located at Edwards Air Force Base. One site requires 10 minute physical response and 30 minute resolution using on-hand resources. (0167)
