COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JUNE 18,1998 PSA#2119U.S. International Trade Commission, 500 E Street, SW, Room 413,
Washington, DC 20436 R -- DATAWEB QUALITY ASSURANCE DUE 062598 POC Deborah Kearns,
Contracting Officer, (202) 205-2736 The U.S. International Trade
Commission is seeking information and potential sources from the
marketplace for Contractor support for quality assurance (QA) for the
agency's DataWeb system, an Oracle-based, web-accessible "warehouse" of
international trade and tariff information. Support is also sought for
QA of customized trade reports generated by the agency's computer
programming staff from the DataWeb database. The overall objective of
this requirement are, first, to make the database completely accurate,
and then to "foolproof" the DataWeb as much as possible, i.e., to make
it difficult for non-technical users operating in a self-service
environment to generate results that are inaccurate or misleading.
Firms having interest in providing these services should submit
company's business size, a capability statement, including most recent
and relevant experience and points of contact. The capability
statement shall also address past experience or expertise in performing
the services listed below. The Government anticipates that
accomplishment of this requirement will require a systems approach to
elimination of sources of error in the database and query software, and
application of expertise in Oracle databases and various access tools,
as well as knowledge of international trade and tariff data or related
fields and formal methods of quality assurance in a data warehouse
environment. The service shall consist of, but is not necessarily
limited to, the following tasks: (1) provide QA for DataWeb warehouse
and (2) provide QA review for individual tabulations (per piece or per
hour). Any business or firm that believes they are capable of
providing this service, should submit a brief capability statement to
the above address to the attention of Deborah Kearns, Contract
Specialist. Statements should be received NO LATER than JUNE 26, 1998.
This is not a request for proposals (RFP) and contract award will not
be made on the basis of the RFI. (0167) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0105 19980618\R-0033.SOL)
