W -- RENTAL OF 260 TON DERRICK BARGE RENTAL POC Diane Taylor, Contract Specialist, 504-862-1156 This serves as notice of the U.S. Army, Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, intent to make award to a local company, within a 150 mile radius, for the rental of one(1) fully operational barge-mounted crane, fixed-boom-type or equal, with not less than 80 ft. boom length, with the capability of mechanically changing boom angles. The derrick barge shall have a safe lifting capacity of not less than 260 tons at a reach of at least 45 ft. from the end of the barge, (crane/boom end). The Contractor shall furnish all rigging/slings and manpower to attach to gate leaves and make basket type lifts. All work under this contract shall be performed at Inner Harbor Navigational Canal Lock, New Orleans, LA north-end tailbay with the Contractor's derrick secured to the east side of the northwest guidewall as shown on drawing, "Location of Contractor's Derrick Barge". The contractor shall provide mobilization and demobilization to and from the job site. The Government will be harmed financially, with commerce adversely impacted, if it fails to act swiftly while the river stages allow work to proceed safely.
