The Department of Veterans Affairs has a requirement for the purchase, delivery, and installation of a Commercial Production Drying and Conditioning Tumbler System and Blanket Spreader-Feeder Machine. This RFP was amended to correct a defective specification. It was previously issued on April 16, 1998 with a closing date of April 28, 1998. As a result of this change the new proposal due date is 2:00 EST on July 7, 1998. The Statement of Work (SOW) was amended as follows: (1) The Dryer Capacity is changed from 1600 lbs to 400 lbs, as indicated on SOW page 2. (2) The Lint Collection System is changed from a "Wet Type" to a "Dry Type" system as indicated on SOW pages 2,3, and 4. (3) The production calculations are now based on one load per hour as indicated on SOW page 2. (4) Offerors are required to include Production Calculations in their Technical proposal. The Tumbler must be capable of producing 400 full dry pounds per hour. The Blanket Spreader-Feeder Machine must be capable of meeting production requirements of 600 blankets per hour. This capability must be obtained from only one unit. Offerors proposing to use more than one Tumbler or Blanket Folder will not be accepted. Additional requirements and specifications do apply, and a site visit is highly encouraged. However, this information is provided to inform potential Offerors of the minimum capability required from each unit. The VA anticipates award of a contract with delivery and installation completed within 60 days after award. The revised Commercial Items Solicitation (SF-1449) will be available for review, and down-loading from the VA Website at: www.va.gov/oa&;mm/busopp/sols.htm on or about June 18, 1998.
