Bird, Contracting Officer (618)993-4175, FAX (618)993-4156 Provide all subsurface structural investigations, structural and architectural design, material, equipment, labor, IH services, supervision, certifications and expertise necessary to construct and install a complete new functional exterior elevator system, accompanying new elevator shaft and renovation of the existing building to accommodate usage access for the new elevator. The new elevator and shaft shall be constructed at a preselected location on the exterior of Bldg. #1, the medical center's "In Care" patient building, and shall be a five stop, five story unit, seismically constructed. Contractor will develop a conceptual study in which the advantages, disadvantages and cost of both a traction and hydraulic elevator will be considered. VA will consider the findings of the study in making the final selection of the type of elevator system the Contractor will design and install. All work will be completed in accordance with all governing agencies' codes and requirements. SIC 1542. Estimated cost range for total project is between $250,000 and $500,000. A pre-bid conference will be held Monday, July 20, 1998 at 10:00 a.m., Bldg. 13 conference room. All interested offerors are encouraged to attend.
