The U.S Army Tank-Automotive Armaments Command-Armament Research, Development and Engineering Center at Picatinny Arsenal, NJ, is seeking qualified producers who can respond to a Request for Proposal for the fabrication of the component hardware for the M86 Projectile Burster and LAP (Load, Assemble and Pack) of a quantity of 95,000 each M86 Projectile Bursters for M929 Smoke Cartridge, 120mm. This is a one time buy. Required delivery date is 30 Sep 1998. Firms with experience in the Melt Pouring Composition B Explosive in Burster Tubes should provide, at no cost to the Government, a summary of their firm's capabilities within fifteen days of this publication by electronic mail to Kwok@pica.army.mil. At a minimum, firms should address Melt Pouring, inspection process (including critical defects), equipment, facilities (including X-ray capability), tooling, materials (including packaging and palletization material) and production delivery schedule (10,000 first month/24,000 per month thereafter). The Government will provide Government Furnished Material (GFM) (Composition B) for the M86 Projectile Burster. The contractor shall have the capability to safely and properly store 14,000 lbs of Composition B explosive (Hazard Class 1.1, Group D, Class A Explosive). Respondents to the notice will not be notified of the receipt or the assessment of the information provided.
