The Naval Sea Systems Command intends to award a sole source contract to Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS), 4101 Washington Avenue, Newport News, VA 23607, to provided engineering, technical, design agent services and a collocated design site in support of aircraft carrier programs. The engineering services will include the conducting of feasibility and tradeoff studies, developing contract data packages, supporting design integration and analysis, supporting specification and drawing maintenance, and conducting and supporting shipchecks. The contract will provide for effort in Fiscal Year (FY) 1999 and includes options for FYs 2000-2003. NNS is the only source with the detailed knowledge of and familiarity with nuclear and conventional powered aircraft carriers qualified to perform the required work.
