Purchasing Agent, marinok@volpe.dot.gov. The Volpe Center plans to
procure through Simplified Acquisition procedures a sole source from
IDI International Holdings, Concord, MA, to construct an integrated
Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) system that will meet the needs
of the Massachusetts State Police for enforcing federally mandated
Motor Carrier Safety Standards. The contractor will be required to
develop a small RFID tag for covert placement on a vehicle which has
been taken out of service for safety violations. Small Business firms
classified under SIC Code 7373 that are interested in proposing on this
requirement must offer a device that meets the following requirements:
1. The read/write range of the tags should be 300 feet and transmit a
minimum of 5 characters at speeds up to 60 mph; 2. The tags should be
enclosed in a foam and plastic sleeve that can be quickly applied to
a commercial vehicle brake line; 3. Must conform with FCC regulations;
