and Industrial Supply Center (FISC), Norfolk Detachment Washington has
a requirement to procure commercial medical transcription services for
the National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, MD. There will be
approximately 1.8 million lines of transcription per year. Services
include typing of the following: 1) Air-Evacuation Narrative Summaries,
2) Stat Dictations, 3) Transfer Narrative Summaries, 4) Active Duty
Narrative Summaries, 5) Adolescent Psychiatric Narrative Summaries, 6)
Medical Board Reports, 7) Temporary Disability Retired List
Evaluations,8) Routine Narrative Summaries, 9) Operation Reports, 10)
Pre-Cardiac Catheterization Reports, 11) Cardiac Catheterization
Reports, 12) Pacemaker Placement Implantation Reports and 13) Other
Reports. Specific requirements include the following: 1) the contractor
shall have a broad knowledge of the specialized vocabulary in medicine
and surgery 2) the contractor should have a minimum of four (4) years
of total experience (gained within the last six years) with a
comparable facility in size and workload volume that meets or exceeds
NNMC's daily current volume of approximately 5,000 lines per day 3) the
contractor's personnel shall have a minimum of three years medical
transcription experience (gained within the last four years). Each
transcriptionist must have extensive knowledge of medical terminology,
have evidence of on-going training regarding medical terminology, and
have experience typing the variety of reports required by NNMC. In
order to provide appropriate support to this facility, the contractor
and the digital backup system must be located within a one (1) hour
non-rush hour surface commute of the National Naval Medical Center in
Bethesda, Maryland. Transcription services are required 24 hours per
day, 7 days a week, including holidays, and require immediate access to
contractor personnel by telephone (not an answering service) during
that time period. The contractor will provide all the necessary
equipment and supplies to accomplish said transmission on-site at the
facility. A Firm Fixed Price contract is anticipated to consist of a
base year and four one year options. Service is anticipated to begin in
November 1998. The SIC code for this requirement is 7338. This will be
a 100% small business set-aside. The anticipated release date for this
