George Washington Memorial Parkway Project PRA-GWMP 1A66, in Arlington County, Virginia, consists of the reconstruction of the northbound George Washington Memorial Parkway from Key Bridge to the Spout Run Parkway; realignment of the southbound George Washington Memorial Parkway ramp to Key Bridge; realignment of Rosslyn Circle; and construction of a connector ramp to westbound U.S. Route 50. The project work includes drainage improvements; aggregate base and hot asphalt concrete pavement placement; removal of several structures; construction of guardwalls, retaining walls, and a pedestrian bridge; and other miscellaneous work. Principal items of work and approximate quantities are as follows: Structural Concrete: 1,800 CUYD; Embankment Construction: 20,400 CUYD; Hot Asphalt Concrete Pavement: 13,500 TON; Stone Masonry: 590 CUYD; and Stone Masonry Guardwall: 1,700 LNFT. The project is expected to fall within the price range of $5,000,000 to $10,000,000. Invitation for Bids No. DTFH71-98-B-00009 is to be issued on or about July 6, 1998. The following applies to Minority, Women-Owned and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises: The Department of Transportation (DOT) Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization has bonding programs to assist minority, women-owned and disadvantaged business enterprises in acquiring short-term capital and bonding assistance for transportation-related contracts. Loans are available under the DOT Short Term Lending Program (STLP) at prime interest rates up to $500,000 to provide accounts receivable financing. The DOT Bonding Assistance Program enables firms to apply for bid, performance and payment bonds up to $1,000,000 per contract. DOT provides an 80 percent guaranty on the bond amount to a surety against losses.
