The Flathead National Forest will be advertising an Invitation for Bids for the Flathead Flood Repairs, Hungry Horse, Spotted Bear, Glacier View, and Swan Lake Ranger Districts, Flathead and Lake Counties, Montana. The project consists of repairing numerous roadway sites damaged during the winter of 1996 and 1997. The majority of the sites are located in the South Fork Flathead River drainage along with two roadway sites in the North Fork Flathead River drainage, and one roadway site in the Swan River drainage. Most of the damage involves slumps on the fill slopes of existing main roads. The work includes excavation and disposal of slide and ditch material; pit, quarry, and borrow site development; manufacturing, hauling and placing rock embankment, backfill, riprap, and gabion rock; hauling and placing pit run aggregate and aggregate surfacing; furnishing and placing select granular backfill, drain rock, and geotextile fabric; constructing rock buttresses, gabions, rocked ditch drains, underdrains with collector and outlet pipes; corrugated metal pipe removal and installation; and seeding and fertilizing the sites. Issue date, July 8, 1998. The Notice to Proceed will be issued approximately September 7, 1998, with a completion date of October 1, 1999. The Government price estimate range is between $250,000 and $500,000. (0170)
