COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JUNE 24,1998 PSA#2123TECHNICAL CONFERENCE ANNOUNCEMENT AND CALL FOR PAPERS CONFERENCE ON
Failure Analysis: A Foundation for Diagnostics and Prognostics
Development The 53rd Meeting of the Society for Machinery Failure
Prevention Technology (MFPT) will be held on April 19-22, 1999 in the
Ramada Plaza Resort Oceanfront, Virginia Beach, Virginia. The sponsors
of MFPT 53 include the Office of Naval Research (ONR), the U.S. Army
Research Laboratory and the National Aeronautics and Space
Administration (NASA). Mr. Victor K. Champagne of the U.S. Army
Research Laboratory is Technical Program Chairman. Henry C. Pusey,
Executive Director of the MFPT Society is Conference Manager. The 1999
Theme, was chosen to highlight the need for a link between failure
analysis results and improved reliability through application of
failure data to the development of new methodologies in predictive and
proactive maintenance. The Opening Session will feature a Keynote
Address and three distinguished Invited Speakers; special Plenary
Lectures on timely topics will alsobe programmed. Technical Exhibits
and a New Products and Services Session are important parts of the
conference, as are workshops, panel sessions and optional Short
Courses. The technical sessions at MFPT 53 will be developed by the
Technical Program Committee based upon the papers proposed. Papers
which relate to the THEME of the meeting are especially solicited, but
abstracts may be submitted in any area that contributes to the
prevention of machinery or structural failures. Paper topics include,
but are not limited to, the following: Failure Analysis of Machinery
and Structures; Application of Failure Data; Prognosis Techniques;
Residual Life Assessment; Failure Algorithms; Reliability Enhancement:
Electronic Health Monitoring; Applications of Neural Networks (AI);
Fault Detection; Oil/Wear Particle Analysis; Advances in Diagnostics;
Modal Testing & Diagnostics; Tribology/Wear Prevention; Applications of
Sensor Technology. The abstract deadline is September 4, 1998. If you
