The work to be performed includes work associated with restoration of wetlands involving excavations of materials from existing embankment dikes surrounding irrigation water re-use pits. The excavated materials are required to be transported and wasted to upland areas located no more than 1500 feet from the pit areas. The dike embankment heights range from 2 to 5 feet. In addition, an open drain with a twelve foot bottom width with cuts depths ranging from 0 to 5 feet will be constructed. Tree clearing of the uplands area and the dike area will be required. The trees typically range in diameters from saplings to 24 inches. Seventy to eighty percent of the trees are deciduous with the remaining consisting of cedars. Other minor work items include barbed wire fencing, construction of a gravel surfaced parking lot and a roadway access ramp. The solicitation packages are anticipated to be available July 22, 1998. The bid opening is tentatively scheduled for 10:00 a.m., August 25, 1998, at the Bureau of Reclamation Nebraska-Kansas Area Office, 203 West Second Street, Grand Island, Nebraska. This contract is to be completed within 200 days. There is no charge for the first copy of the solicitation; additional sets will be provided upon receipt of a nonrefundable check or money order of $9.00 each additional copy.
