Each building which requires a fire alarm system is equipped with one or more signal communications 8MTJ Master transmitter Box(s). These transmitters communicate with a receiving central station located in building 730 via a special serial RF data stream whose protocal is not known to us. As of December of 1997, Signal Communications no longer manufactures the 8MTJ Transmitters and has to be replaced with a model 8MTJ-A-16 or similar item/model. This similar/model has to have the capability of transmitting addressing information regarding individual detectors and devices which was not a capability of the older model. This change has necessitated the updating of the equipment now in place in our central receiving station.
