consists of maintenance dredging of the Portland Harbor Federal
Navigation Channel and anchorage area. The work will provide a 35 foot
deep channel and turning basin at Mean Low Water (MLW). Approximately
850,000 cubic yards of silt and clay material will be removed using a
mechanical dredge and scows. All material dredged from the Harbor and
anchorages will be disposed of at the Portland Harbor Disposal Site
approximately 7.1 nautical miles east of Cape Elizabeth, Maine. The
estimated cost range is between $5,000,000.00 and $10,000,000.00. Work
shall be completed within 160 calendar days after receipt of a notice
to proceed. Plans and specifications will be available on or about
7/21/98 at a cost of $10.00 per set. All responsible sources may submit
a bid which will be considered by the New England District. Posted
