Frascella, Internet: frascella@usaid.gov, Tel: 202-712-5977, Fax: 202-216-3052 The Agency for International Development intends to award a two- year contract to John Snow, Inc. for services to complete selected portions of the MotherCare II Subproject. The MotherCare II Subproject, located under the umbrella USAID Breastfeeding and Maternal and Neonatal Health Project, has as its primary purpose the promotion of maternal and neonatal health and nutrition and reduction of maternal and neonatal mortality. Emphasis is placed on care during pregnancy, labor, delivery, and the postpartum and newborn periods. In addition, MotherCare integrates approaches to family planning, undernutrition and infections, as well as the elimination of female genital mutilation, and targets adolescents and all women of reproductive age. The portions of the project to be continued under this contract are: long-term country programs, operations and applied research, information dissemination, and policy formulation activities for the purpose of scale-up and sustainability in the following areas: Health andnutrition of women.
