COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JUNE 30,1998 PSA#2127Defense Special Weapons Agency, 6801 Telegraph Road, Alexandria, VA
22310-3398 A -- MONITORING ATMOSPHERIC NUCLEAR EXPLOSIONS USING INFRASOUND POC
Brian Wilt, Negotiator, (703) 325-6960, Scott G. Morton, Contracting
Officer, (703) 325-1200 The Defense Special Weapons Agency (DSWA) is
seeking support from the Geophysical Institute, University of Alaska,
for research in the field of monitoring atmospheric explosions using
infrasound. The work consists of forming an event catalog of natural
events, and characterizing these events, for a historical dataset of
digital infrasound recording taken at Fairbanks, Alaska, and Windless
Bight, Antarctica from 1981 to 1984. The Geophysical Institute is in a
unique position to carry out the proposed signal identification and
analysis because they have already developed the software for a
comprehensive MatLab-based infrasonic data analysis system called
DataScan that would be used for signal identification and they have had
twenty years of experience in the identification and analysis of
coherent infrasonic signals in Alaska, Canada, Sweden, and Antarctica.
Note that this is a sole source procurement. See Note 22. Anyone
interested in this effort can send information via fax to the attention
of Brian Wilt/AMB at fax number (703) 325-9295. Acquisition Management
has added "Procurement Opportunities" to the DSWA Home Page available
on the World Wide Web. Information will include this synopsis and
more. Please check us out at www.dswa.mil. Reference Synopsis No.
