This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for a commercial item prepared in accordance with the format in FAR 12.6 as supplemented with additional information included in the notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued, all requests for written solicitations shall be disregarded. However all responses from responsible sources received within 15 days of publication of this synopsis will be fully considered. The solicitation M67400-98-R-A007 is issued as a Request For Proposal (RFP). The solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 97-04. The acquisition is a firm-fixed price contract for Explosive Detectors, portable, hand held, battery powered, capable of detecting high and low vapor pressure explosives, Scintrex Model EVD-3000. This office intents to award a sole source contract to Scintrex Inc. for item 0001, a quantity of 14 each. FOB point is :DESTINATION, Provost Marshal Office, Camp Foster, Okinawa, Japan. Inspection and Acceptance shall be made at final destination. Offerors shall be prepared to ship within 60 days after notification of award. Final marking instructions will be provided at the time of award. FAR 52.212-1, Instructions to Offerors -- Commercial Items (OCT 1995), applies to this acquisition.
