E-MAIL: Contracting Officer, SSA/OAG, JUNGHIE.ELKY@ssa.gov. The Social
Security Administration (SSA) is seeking sources for data
warehouse/data mining technology to support Electronic Data Interchange
(EDI) initiatives. The initial focus will be on the telephone billing
system with an eye toward a very robust system that would also support
network management and other very large scale transaction data stores.
SSA is currently operating a pilot of receiving ASC X12 811 invoice
transactions for telephone bills and translating them into accounting
transactions with the Mainframe version of Sterling Commerce's GENTRAN
software. SSA is looking to obtain the ability to analyze the data
from these bills. SSA uses the Sterling Commerce CONNECT:Direct
software for file transfer between Mainframe platforms and NT servers.
The SSA Field Office WAN/LAN topology consists of Pentium Desktop PCs
operating the Microsoft Office Suite, including Internet Explorer for
Intranet Access and NetSoft's NS Elite 3270 software for Mainframe
access. Any responsible organization able to provide such technology is
invited to submit complete details concerning its capabilities,
experience, and other pertinent data (including GSA contract
information). Respondents must clearly indicate the capability of the
product to provide the service requested (any literature or information
submitted as a response to this notice must contain enough information
attesting to the capability of a product offered to meet the stated
requirements). Only written responses will be accepted. Responses are
due within 15 calendar days from the publication date of this notice.
The Government does not intend to pay for any information provided.
This is a request for information only -- THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR
PROPOSALS (RFP). Requests for a solicitation will not be honored or
acknowledged. No contract award will be made on the basis of responses
received. However, this information will be used in SSA's assessment
of capable sources. Respondents should refer to
SSA-SSS-98-JCE-DataWarehouse. Respondents will NOT be notified of the
results of the evaluation of the information received. Posted 06/29/98
