Vessels homeport is Charleston, SC and transit time from Charleston, SC to vessels next mission loading location in Norfolk, Va is included as part of the performance period. Vessel will be made available for inspection on August 14 and 15, 1998, at the Atlantic Marine Center in Norfolk, Va. The requirement consists of basic items and Option items. Basic items will include such items as Sea Valve Overhauls; Shell Plate Repairs; Underwater Body Coating; Fuel Oil Tank Repairs and others. Option Items will include Electronic Equipment Upgrades; J-Frame Installation; Ship's Service Diesel Generator Oil Seal Repair; and others. Characteristics of NOAA Ship FERREL: Length Overall -- 133 feet-3 inches; Beam (Moulded) -- 32 feet-0 inches; Draft (maximum) -- 6 feet -- 6 inches; Displacement- 360 tons; Propulsion -- Caterpillar D353 diesel reduction, fixed pitch propeller; Electrical Service -- Caterpillar 3406 diesel generator, 450 VAC, 200 amp, 3 phase; crew -- 14 persons.
