Specialist, (215) 656-6914 The vessel to be acquired is an inland
river style fuel oil barge for use in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineer's
Maintenance and Repair Mission on the Inland River System. The vessel
is approximately 125-feet long, 26-feet wide and 8-feet deep. The
vessel is of all steel, welded construction. The vessel shall have
cargo fuel oil storage tanks, transfer and piping systems. The vessel
will be designed, built and classed to American Bureau of Shipping
rules for Steel Vessels on Rivers and Intracoastal Waterways. A full
spectrum of testing to prove the design and engineering concepts is
required. The solicitation has been formatted as "Design and Build"
type based upon a Concept Design prepared by the Marine Design Center
and will utilize the MDC three phase contracting process. Liquidated
Damages are included in the contract and bonding is required.
Contractors must be registered in the Central Contractor Registration
(CCR) database prior to award of the contract. Instructions will be
included in Solicitation. Specifications and full size drawings will be
furnished at no charge and will be available on or about 17 July 1998.
