NASA/GSFC plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) 972-79315-710 for 1. 150 each Model No. 1548-623, MK2, 403 MHz Radiosondes; 2. 1 Job -- Repair of Model No. 1548-623; 3. 40 each -- MK2, 403 MHz Radiosonde with Special Sensing Chilled Mirror Dewpoint Temperature Detector. 4. 35 each -- MK2, 403 Radiosondes with Special Sensing Chilled Mirror Dewpoint Temperature Detector compatible with Global Position System (GPS) Wind Finding Machine. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). NASA/GSFC intends to purchase the items from VIZ Manufacturing Company, 335 E. Price Street, Philadelphia, PA 19144-5782. VIZ Manufacturing is the only company which can supply Radiosondes with accurate relative humidity measurements for the TRMM Research effort and for Ozone Measurements, both technologies integrated with GPS Wind Find Capability. No other vendor can meet this requirement. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interestedfirms have 15 days from the publication of this synopsis to submit in writing to the identified point of contact, their qualifications/capabilities. Such qualifications/capabilities will be used solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. Responses received after the 15 days or without the required information will be considered nonresponsive to the synopsis and will not be considered. A determination by the Government to not compete this proposed effort on a full and open competitive basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
