The University of California, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, seeks sources to design and fabricate a system to distribute precision timing information over a 155-Mb/s serial optical data link. Expressions of interest from prospective vendors are invited. Key functions include generation and distribution of a serial time-encoded data stream over up to 500-meter long optical fibers to 15 locations. Additionally, precise measurements of the fiber optic distribution path lengths to better than 20 picoseconds are desired. Interested firms should respond with a description of qualifications with respect to the foregoing or related fields. Responses are required on or before July 15, 1998.
