DUE 071598 POC Claudia Andrews The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Food
Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) intends to award a contract with
DAKO Corporation, Carpinteria, California, for the purchase of one
S3400 DAKO Autostainer Universal Staining System and one S3426 Optional
Slide Labeling System. THERE IS NO SOLICITATION DOCUMENT AVAILABLE. The
system will be delivered to the USDA, FSIS, Eastern Laboratory in
Athens, GA. This system is required for FSIS to carry out
immunohistochemical procedures performed on human and laboratory animal
tissues for use in domestic food producing animal tissues. The DAKO
systems meets the Agency's minimum requirements. Only fully developed,
commercially available systems shall be considered. At a minimum, the
automated immunohistochemical staining systems shall: 1) allow the use
of reagents from a wide variety of sources; 2) have the ability to turn
off any heating unit incorporated into the system; 3) use standard
microscopic glass slides; 4) have an auditory alarm system; 5) be PC
based; 6) allow the separation of hazardous from nonhazardous waste;
7)be dependable enough to operate when no technical staff is on duty;
8) have a minimum slide capacity of 40-50 slides. All interested
concerns must identify their interest in writing and fully document
their capability to meet the agency's requirements by forwarding a
detailed response within 15 days of publication of this notice. All
responses must be in writing and may be faxed to 202-690-1814. All
proposals from responsible sources will be considered by the Agency. If
no affirmative written responses are received within 15 days of
publication of this notice to determine that a comparable source is
available, or is more advantageous to the Government, negotiations will
take place with DAKO Corporation. There is no solicitation document
