This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This notice constitutes the ONLY solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. This solicitation is being conducted under Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). All interested sources must identify the product being offered by submitting pricing data and an accurate description of the equipment being offered, which includes the make and model numbers. The Volpe Center plans to award to a company offering a brand name or equal system. The item is as follows: Item No. 1: Qualstar Model #4210A, Automated High-Speed Tape Drive Backup System, Quantity: 2EA, Unit Price $__________, Total Price $___________. If bidding on an equal the following specifications must be included: this automated tape library backup system must have the new Advanced Intelligent Tape (AIT) tape drive technology that will provide unattended backup, archive storage and video and image storage distributed database backup, It must: Use Sony AIT 25/50GB tapes which have an automatic self-cleaning feature (no cleaning tapes needed), have a changer capable of holding at least 10 AIT tapes, expandable to 20 AIT tapes, have a transfer rate of at least 6MB/sec. Compressed, 3MB/sec uncompressed, be compatible with Windows NT 4.0 and Arcserve 6.0 (or higher), be expandable to double the capacity, be warranted for at least two years with on-site service available.
