contract is to evaluate the toxic and carcinogenic potential of
selected chemicals of interest via inhalation. This project includes
14-day, 90-day, and two year studies of Methyl Isobutyl Ketone,
Alpha-Methylstyrene, Cumene, and Propargyl Alcohol. The base contract
award shall consist of those work activities associated with identity
and purity determination of bulk chemical, development of generation
and monitoring methods, health and safety concerns that must be
addressed before start, and conduct of the Phase 1 for Tasks 1 (Methyl
Isobutyl Ketone), Task 2 (Alpha-Methylstyrene), Task 3 (Cumene) and
Task 4 (Propargyl Alcohol. The Government may, pending the availability
of funds exercise options for: 90-day study of Methyl Isobutyl Ketone,
a two-year study of Methyl Isobutyl Ketone (Task I); 90-day study of
Alpha-Mehtylstyrene, a two-year study of Alpha-Mehtylstyrene (Task II)
90- day study of Cumene, a two-year study of Cumene (Task III), and
90-day study of Propargyl Alcohol, a two year study of Propargyl
Alcohol (Task IV). These studies shall be conducted according to the
Specifications for the Conduct of Studies to Evaluate the Toxicologic
and Carcinogenic Potential of Selected Chemicals in Laboratory Animals
Via Inhalation for the National Toxicology Program (NTP) dated April
1998. Award of one cost-reimbursement, completion contract on May 21,
1999 on an open competition basis is contemplated as a result of this
solicitation. The estimated level of effort is 12,650 labor hours for
the base contract and 148,261 labor hours for all options. The
estimated period of performance is approximately six months months for
the base contract and four year eleven months if all options are
exercised. Interested organizations should request either a streamlined

of the RFP will be provided, which will include only the Statement of
Work, deliverables andreporting requirements, any special requirements,
mandatory qualifications, and technical evaluation criteria. After
examination of the streamlined RFP, any organization interested in
responding to this RFP must request the full RFP package. A copy of the
streamlined and full RFP (with statement of Work only) will be
available after the release date on the Internet at

provided in the on-line solicitation package. All responsible sources
may submit a proposal which shall be considered by the Agency. Expected
release date of the RFP is August 17, 1998 with proposals due October
