The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center, San Diego intends to issue a sole source contract to Pacific Marine and Supply Co., Ltd. (PMS) located at 841 Bishop St., Honolulu, HI 96820. The vessel is in the possession of PMS for care, custody, control, and operation under the terms and conditions of a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement, through 11 Dec 2000. The contractor shall provide operational support and mission unique maintenance for the SSP Kaimalino and SLICE platforms for testing of Navy sponsored programs. This will include mobilizing and de-mobilizing the vessel for these tests, and providing necessary engineering, design, equipment, fabrication, and installation services to support varying payloads. The contractor shall provide demonstrations to determine the feasibility of the SSP Kaimalino as a towable trailer to the SLICE to determine the expanded capabilities of the Mission Modular Concept. This will entail the design and fabrication of a close coupled link between the two vessels. Should the demonstrations determine that the trailer concept is feasible, the contractor shall design a platform identical to and compatible with the SLICE, that is capable of being a close-coupled trailer.
