Transportation Administrative Service Center (TASC), plans to release
a Request for Proposal (RFP) to provide office automation, analytical
research, product design/development/distribution, and other technical
support for the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS). The RFP
will be set aside as an 8(a) competition under SIC Code 7379. Award of
multiple,indefinite-delivery, indefinite quantity contracts in
accordance with FAR 16.5 is anticipated with specific requirements to
be awarded via task orders issued under the contracts. A draft of the
RFP is anticipated to be available within one week of this announcement
and will contain a projected schedule for submission of questions and
the subsequent release of the formal RFP. The formal RFP is planned to
have thirty (30) day proposal due date and award is projected for late
September, 1998. The draft and formal RFP's will be distributed
electronically via the DOT World Wide Web (WWW) Server. You can reach

connected, scroll down and select the link title "Procurement
Opportunities". If you have any technical diffculties regarding the
WWW, please contact Sharon Boddie at 202-366-1811. The Government will
not distribute hard copies of the RFP, distribution will only be done
via the aforementioned method. It is anticipated the RFP and related
documents will be provided in pdf format. To read and print these
documents Adobe Acrobat Reader software is required. This software is
fee and can be acquired at
http://www.adobe.com/prodindex/acrobat/readstep.html (this site will be
linked from the DOT WWW Server). The draft RFP will have instuctions
for providing questions and comments. DOT anticipates that all
subsequent solicitation documents (e.g., amendments to the RFP) will be
disseminated to offerors via the same method. The formal RFP will
contain specific instructions for submittal of comments after release.
Note RFP schedule is subject to change and it is theresponsibility of
interested parties to periodically check the solicitation status at
the subject WWW site. DOT,Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business
Utilization (OSDBU), has a program to assist minority, women owned and
disadvantaged business enterprises to acquire short-term working
capital assistance for transportation-related contracts. Loans are
available under the DOT Short Term Lending Program (STLP at prime
interest rates to provide accounts receivable financing. The maximum
line of credit is $500,000. For further information and applicable
